Accreditation as a sponsor

If an employer wishes to hire foreign employees, it is possible – and in some cases even obligatory – to be a sponsor accredited at the IND (Immigration and Naturalisation Service). Being a sponsor has a number of advantages, including a quicker decision period. Whereas the legal period is 3 months, the IND has stated that the decision period for an accredited sponsor is 2-4 weeks.
Employers can apply for accreditation as a sponsor at the IND. This is even obligatory for applications for highly skilled migrants and researchers within the meaning of Directive (EU) 2016/801. In order to become an accredited sponsor, an application has to be filed on the basis of which the IND tests the reliability of the company in question.
