Housing

For you to really feel at home in The Netherlands it is crucial to find suitable housing. However, our housing market can differ a lot from what you are used to in your own country. Perhaps you cannot see the wood for the trees because of all those websites, which unfortunately also include offers for illegal dwellings. That is why we will be pleased to help you find a suitable and legal dwelling. We work with reliable estate agents who often have dwellings available before putting them online. We will discuss your wishes with you and inform about the possibilities on the Dutch housing market. After having made a selection of suitable dwellings, you will set off with one of our estate agents and when you have found the right dwelling, we will assist you with the check-in and make sure that you are connected to the gas, water and power mains.

  • The inspection of suitable dwellings with one of our estate agents.
  • ExpatPro will negotiate on your behalf.
  • ExpatPro will check the rent agreement and discuss it with you.

Schools

Settling in

Not only the right housing or school is necessary to settle well in The Netherlands but there are also many matters in The Netherlands that may differ from those in your own country. We will be pleased to help you with these practical matters. For example, opening a bank account, information about insurances in The Netherlands, public transport and public transport chip card, DigiD, exchanging your driver’s license, finding a dentist and GP, a sports club, foreign supermarkets, out-of-school activities, or you might be interested in learning Dutch. We will be glad to provide you with the right addresses, so that you can concentrate on your job or the children.

This service includes:

  • Planning an appointment with the bank to open a bank account. ExpatPro will provide you with detailed information about the appointment and advise which documents you need to bring with you.
  • Optional: If so desired, we can accompany you to the appointment with the bank.
  • ExpatPro will advise you about an English-speaking GP and dentist and provide you with all data, so that you can register with them.
  • Maximally 8 hours in settling-in services in total as desired (including opening a bank account and finding a GP and dentist).

Departing

It is also of the utmost importance that everything is properly concluded and wound up when you leave. We can assist you and take care that nothing is forgotten.

This service includes:

  • Checking out the expat and any relatives at the IND.
  • ExpatPro will provide information about when and where you can hand in your residence permit.
  • Deregister from the BRP (Municipal Personal Records Database).
  • Turning off gas, water, power mains.
  • We will make the appointment for the check-out from the dwelling and assist you in this procedure. We will also draw up the check-out report and ensure that the deposit, if applicable, is paid back to you.
